The Martyrology
The Martyrology online
This list of saints for each day of the year provides a brief description of the life and death of the saint. Simply select the day, and then devotionally read through the names. After the statement, "And elsewhere in divers places...," read the following prayer:
V: Right dear in the sight of the Lord:
R: Is the death of his Saints.
May holy Mary and all the saints intercede for us to the Lord: that we may be worthy to obtain from him help and salvation, who liveth and reigneth forever and ever. Amen
NOTE: Since this list includes non-Orthodox saints, Orthodox Christians should omit the names of those saints who reposed after 1054 AD.
The Saint Ambrose Prayer Book
The Saint Ambrose Prayer Book contains the essential prayers and devotions for an Orthodox Christian who wishes to follow the Western tradition. Included are a rule of life, Morning and Evening prayers and other daily prayers, Prayers before and after Mass, the Mass according to the rites of St Gregory & St Tikhon, Preparation for Private Confession, the Sacrament of Penance (Private Confession), the Penitential Psalms, the Stations of the Cross, and various litanies and devotions.
NOTE: Copies of the Saint Ambrose Prayer Book may be purchased at Holy Incarnation.
The Prologue from Ohrid
The Prologue online
This source employs the Byzantine Orthodox calendar. It provides descriptions of the lives of the saints for each day, as well as other devotional materials. Western Orthodox Christians will benefit by supplementing the Prologue with a daily reading of the Martyrology.
